It’s almost my third week of not being able to sleep well since the transfer news of Glen Johnson and rumours of possible Xabi Alonso and Javier Mascherano.

Johnson’s done deal had given a bit relief, despite his supreme price tag and salary. And though I’m almost sure it’s not because my email or Facebook status crying for an expensive right back, I’m very glad we share the same thought that the previous Liverpool team were lack at it. Not that I don’t like Arbeloa, in fact I was left very impressed with his performances last season, but I think to have a more aggressive right back is necessary. And since we don’t have the kind of money to sign players like Dani Alves or Sergio Ramos, Glen Johnson sounds enough promising. It’s even better not to sell Arbeloa, since it will provide options as well as competition.

Now back in central midfield. Having been one of the best partnerships in the world (along with Xavi-Iniesta, Lampard-Essien and Pirlo-Seedorf) does risk Xabi and Masch to attract interests from ambitious clubs, including the treble-winning Barcelona and next Galacticos Real Madrid. The 28 million pounds of investment is now worth at least 65 million (considering Xabi 30 and Masch 35) though we are not in the mood for selling.

I would also pray that both players are not in the rush of such move, especially in a moment where World Cup is less than a year ahead. A club first-team guarantee, plus of course an 80% journey towards becoming Liverpool history, should we win the Premiership title next May, might worth priceless… even if it is to trade with an already treble-winning side or playing alongside the most expensive players in the galaxy!

It may still be another eight weeks before the transfer windows closed and I could sleep well again, but I’ll trade my insomnia with any chance to see Alonso and Mascherano stay. So don’t let us down, guys. Please.
